5 tips for storing jewellery at home

If you’ve got some prized pieces in your jewellery collection, storing them properly should be a priority. Ideally, they should be somewhere that’s safe and secure – with plenty of room for organisation and speedy access too. When you’re getting ready to go out, your favourite necklace, wristwatch or earring should be ready to steal the show. We’ve outlined a few of the best tips for storing jewellery looking pristine through the years.

  1. Keep it stripped-back

Having a clear-out and keeping your collection stripped back makes a big difference.

Many of us end up collecting jewellery over the years, never taking the time to purge the pieces we no longer wear. But making room for new necklaces, watches or bracelets could help your collection flourish. And give old jewellery a new lease of life.

While you sell older pieces or give precious stones to close friends, any collectibles could be proudly displayed as your statement pieces. If a family member has a birthday coming up, why not pass on something with sentimental value?

  1. Invest in jewellery boxes

No matter what you’re storing, investing in a quality jewellery box helps you to keep the dust away from your most precious pieces. Whether it’s for storing earrings, necklaces, rings or bracelets, a lined and professionally made box will keep your jewellery away from dust.

If you’re a serious collector, you should take storage seriously too. Boxes should be airtight, and you should choose cushioned storage for collectibles like TAG Heuer watches. With their complex movements and meticulous manufacturing methods, luxury timepieces should be astutely preserved and cared for.

  1. Hang longer pieces

Chains, necklaces, and bracelets are delicate, especially when they’re adorned with precious metals or rare stones. Add to that their delicate nature – and how quickly they’ll tangle if stored flat. It’s easy to see why many collectors invest in jewellery stands.

With a delightful array of styles and designs to choose from, it’s possible to find a jewellery stand that suits your dressing room or walk-in wardrobe perfectly. Alternatively, you could get creative with individual hooks adorning the walls in your bedroom, home to a few of your all-time favourite necklaces.

  1. Organise by type

If you often find yourself scrambling around for particular pieces, keeping each type of jewellery separate could help to restore order among your collection!

The more carefully you think about your jewellery, the more differences you’ll notice between each piece. You could arrange your collection by metal, stones, or simply by overall type. Grouping the same metal types together could even boost the longevity of your pieces, keeping your collection looking beautifully new.

  1. Have a ‘daily’ section

Finally, if you’ve got those one-off pieces that you wear every day without fail, dedicating a small area to keep them in could help to streamline your routine. You’ll not only cut down on time in the mornings but removing your jewellery should become almost automatic, with a guaranteed safe spot for your favourite accessories and gems.
